HIV/AIDS in Indiana > HIV Prevention > Training - Counseling, Testing, & Referral Training - Counseling, Testing, & Referral

The HIV Prevention Counseling and Testing Course is a skills-based course where you can learn what you need to know to provide the following:

  • Pre and Post test counseling using behavior change education model to reduce an individual's risk of acquiring or transmitting HIV, and Post test counseling for HIV positive results including services and referrals available. 
  • Practice Risk Reduction counseling to teach the skills needed to make informed personal health decisions.
  • Capacity to implement all stages of testing, and Partner Counseling and Referral Services.
  • Indiana State reporting requirements, using the Confidential Case Report Form, and many other skills.

You will not learn venipuncture or specific rapid test interpretation.
