Indiana Statewide HIV Prevention Community Planning Group (CPG)

Mission Statement


The overall mission of the Planning Group is to adopt and periodically update a Comprehensive HIV Prevention Plan for the State of Indiana.  This mission will be accomplished in collaboration with the Indiana State Department of Health by carrying out these necessary steps in HIV Prevention Community Planning:

  1. Assessing the present and future extent, distribution, and impact of HIV/AIDS in defined populations in the State of Indiana;
  1. Assessing existing community resources for HIV prevention to determine the State’s capability to respond to the epidemic. These resources should include fiscal, personnel, and program resources, as well as support from public (federal, state, county, municipal), private, and volunteer sources. This assessment should identify all HIV prevention programs and activities according to defined high risk populations;
  1. Identifying unmet HIV prevention needs within defined populations;
  1. Defining the potential impact of specific strategies and interventions to prevent new HIV infections in defined populations;
  1. Prioritizing HIV prevention needs by defined high risk populations and by specific strategies and interventions;
  1. Developing a Comprehensive HIV Prevention Plan consistent with the high priority HIV prevention needs identified through the HIV Prevention Community Planning process; and
  1. Evaluating the effectiveness of the planning process.

Membership

Membership in the Prevention Community Planning Group is achieved via nominations received from around the state of Indiana, as well as including two (2) members nominated from the services planning body, the Comprehensive HIV Services Planning and Advisory Group (CHSPAC).
