ISDH FOOD DEFENSE SPECIALIST TO HEAD
NEW AFDO FOOD SECURITY COMMITTEE
On December 1, 2004, Travis Goodman, one of ISDH's Food Defense Specialists, was appointed Chairman of a newly created Food Security Committee of the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO). AFDO is an international non-profit organization that has been a recognized voice in determining the rules and shape of the regulatory playing field of the future for over 100 years. AFDO develops support for its positions by interfacing with high-level regulatory officials, industry representatives, trade associations, and consumer organizations. By doing so, AFDO continues to have a significant impact on regulations at federal, state, and local levels. AFDO works through its committee structure to formulate and develop guidance material, model codes, and to provide comments to federal agencies on public health matters.
