In February of 2006, Governor Mitch Daniels created the Indiana State Historic Records Advisory Board, or SHRAB. Charged with being the central advisory body for historical records planning and preservation in Indiana, the SHRAB is working with the Commission on Public Records and repositories throughout the state to accomplish their task.
The Board continues to receive feedback from their survey sent out September, 2006. The information collected will allow the SHRAB to analyze the situation, set priorities and coordinate public and private resources to preserve Indiana's most vulnerable records, and increase accessibility to the most used historical documents.
For further information please contact shrab@icpr.in.gov.
In 2006 SHRAB created the Governor’s Award. Nominees eligible for the Governor’s Award include individuals who have contributed substantially toward the preservation, recognition, or appreciation of Indiana’s historic record through their support, leadership, innovation, and/or volunteerism. The Governor’s Award will be presented to the recipient on December 11, 2008 at the capitol rotunda as part of the Statehood Day celebration.
Below, you will find a nomination form and cover letter for the State Historic Records Advisory Board’s 2008 Governor’s Award. Please note this form must be received by Monday, November 3, 2008 for consideration for this year’s award. We look forward to receiving your nominations!
