Disaster assistance hotline

The historic Indiana flood of 2008 devastated many Indiana farms and many Hoosier farmers are still struggling to provide for their families and make the necessary repairs to their farmland. But financial assistance is still available. The Office of Disaster Recovery, the Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA)-Division of Soil Conservation and the Indiana State Treasurer’s Office are working together to help farmers access more than  $60 million in financial assistance and low-interest loans.  The assistance application process has been simplified and begins with a phone call or email to an ISDA representative. Farmers can call 877-4IN-AGRI (877-446-2474) or email recovery@isda.in.gov

    Resources for farmers

ISDA is offering an opportunity for farmers, consultants, SWCDs and others to prioritize each farm’s damages and to assist in developing a remediation plan. The Land Rehab template below can assist landowners in determining the need for further support or opportunity for financial assistance.  Farmers and landowners may wish to contact their SWCD office or ISDA Technician to receive on-farm assistance in reviewing farmland damages and completing the template below.
