Throughout 2008, Indiana motorists' registrations expire on the fifteenth day of their renewal month, while others expire at the month's end. By staggering the renewal dates, the BMV aims to reduce long lines and wait times caused by end-of-month rushes. Under this system, license branch traffic should be more evenly spread throughout the month.
In 2009, the 10 months of registration from February to October will be expanding to 48 weeks to provide a smoother flow of customer transactions throughout the year. During the new schedule, the deadlines for registration renewals will be spread across four dates in each month.
Please refer to the staggered registration schedule below to determine your 2008 registration renewal date. Registration renewal dates are based on the first two letters of the vehicle owner's last name.
