Regular License Plates
Every vehicle registered in Indiana must bear a license plate in a visible location on the rear of the vehicle. Regular license plates are issued for vehicles registered in Indiana every four years, or when a newly acquired vehicle is registered in the state, or when a vehicle owner becomes a resident of the state. Special recognition license plates allows motorists to support Indiana universities, colleges, military personnel, and various organizations.

There are no additional group fees to pay at time of purchase.
Support Our Troops
Fees: Group fee of $20 + registration charges
Eligibility: All Hoosier motorists
Availability: At branches and online at myBMV.
May be used on: Passenger cars and trucks up to 11,000 pounds, and recreational vehicles
The group fee from the "Support Our Troops" license plate will support the Military Family Relief Fund.

Disability License Plate
Fees: Only registration charges
Eligibility: Disability license plates are available to Hoosiers who:
- Have a permanent disability that requires the use of a wheelchair, walker, braces or crutches;
- Or have permanently lost the use of one or both legs;
- Or experience restricted mobility due to certain medical conditions;
- Or are permanently blind or visually impaired.
